the service arm of our is india's only iso 9001 certified electronics service brand. Adding to collection. I have a few others from Wicked Tinkers. I also have several other Celtic groups like this and they are amongst my favorites. Similar to the Hot Chilli Pipers, Soar Patrol, and Off Kilter... check them all out. This is the second copy I had to buy as I literally wore out the first one. One of their best albums in my opinion - although they are all goodHeard them at the Highland games in Vista, Ca. like them- so I bought an album. You have to like da pipes to love da music. These guys are fantastic. This is bagpipe rock and rollI grew up listening to the Wicked Tinkers and I was very pleased to be able to get these mp3s.Good music.Although the CD mostly is Scots, it starts out with a killer version of "Radar Love" (Dutch rock 'n' roll and it works). Few groups who have great 1st albums are able to surpass them with their 2nd but the Wicked Tinkers have done it. Their unique sound here is even better, and taking a clue from many heavy metal bands they throw in a "ballad" - 'Farewell to Nova Scotia' which is John singing backed by guitar - no drums or pipes. And it is nicely done. "The farmer" is an interesting ditty that's a bit randy and all fun. The rest are killer tunes using the power of the bagpipes combined with drums and an occasionally use of a didjeridus. The only thing better than the high tempo energy of their CD is seeing them live. (I've seen them live 3 times so far- ).Having fallen in love with these guys from the first time I saw them at a Celtic Music Festival, I must say the CD more than does them justice. These guys sound the same live or recorded - they don't need fancy editing! Three of the most talented musicians around - check their web pages! I was fortunate to be at the Calaveras festival when they recorded "Hammer on the Anvil" with the Village Blacksmith - what a rush! Now if they'd just record "Smoke on the Water" and Stairway to Heaven"...! (Aficionados will understand that!) Full Finger Motorbike Protective Outdoor Sports Gloves for Motor CDs Vinyl => International Music => Europe Sale Cheap Shop Hammered Editorial Reviews Product Description HAMMERED is the Wicked Tinkers second CD and gets its name from the second tune on the album, "Hammer on the Anvil" (or that persistent pounding you hear listening to their drums and pipes). There are a few tunes and songs that could be considered slow and beautiful, although the Tinkers don't advocate such things. If you liked the first CD, we think you will love this one. The Wicked Tinkers say "Most tunes on this CD are from the Highlands of Scotland, where the music we love was born. A few of the tunes are Irish (Warren's heritage), who we feel are brothers to the Scots. Some tunes are Canadian (where our own John MacAdams hails from), a very Scottish place. A wee bit from Australia rounds out the lot." "We are thankful to all our fans for their support of this unusual music. It is they who help us continue." Review The Wicked Tinkers blow a relentless bagpipe that crawls under your skin-under your fingernails at times-dogged at every trill by a big fat snare drum that's as driven as the pipes. There is also a bodhran, but it's poorly recorded, sounding like a beaver swatting its tail. A guitar-and-vocal tune is mixed dreadfully and not sung with the charm or gusto of the piping and drumming. Still, this is an indie undertaking, most readily available via Amazon, so some technical glitches may be overlooked. And the bagpipes and snare stomp with such power and conviction that beaver-tail bodhran and overly earnest vocal can be forgiven. -- From Rhythm Magazine About the Artist Wicked Tinkers are three roving musicians who play the music of Scotland, Ireland, and the many nations on which the Gael have left their mark. We all heard the Great Highland Bagpipes as kids and were hooked! The pipes brought us together and keep us coming back for more. We simply play what we hear. So lower your standards and join us on a wild ride! We're proud of the heritage that produces such powerfully beautiful music. We owe a great debt of gratitude to our ancestors and their sacrifices - there were times when the pipes were nearly wiped out. Today more Scottish bagpipes are played around the world than ever before. "span"Highland pipes are in an ancient key that speaks more to the gut than to logic. The pipes somehow bridge the gap between where we've been and where we are going. They are a piece of the past that is very much alive, and we are working to propel them into the future. Its been said that the beautiful, high tones of Scottish bagpipes can be heard by the gods. Lets hope we aren't keeping them up at night. "span"Band members: Aaron Shaw: Scottish Highland Bagpipes, Scottish small pipes, Tin whistle. John MacAdams: Voice, Marching amp; Tenor snares, Tenor tapan, Congas, Guitar, Assorted percussion. Warren Casey: Bass tapan, Bodhran, Darabukka. "span"Special Guests: Michel Olson: Hammer and anvil. Wayne Belger: Two big Australian didjeridus. Dave Soyars: Electric bass guitar.
