Compared to that, this is a great price; however, I don't think it's the same product. The store one is the best low carb sweetener I've found: no weird aftertaste or cooling effect, no stomach issues for me, perfect sugar substitute and sweetness level. It's mostly erythritol, but is labeled as a stevia and monk fruit blend, so the proportions must be different. This product is much more 'fluffy' and less granular and it's also not as sweet- I need double the amount as before to get my morning coffee the same level of sweetness. Read the package carefully! I assumed this was the same as what I've been buying, but this is labeled as just erythritol and the blend of the store version is obviously different and superior, in my opinion. I will continue to use this for my coffee and some baking, but I probably won't buy it again.Listen, I don't know what this company is doing wrong, but this caused me horrible, horrible diarrhea after only a couple of tbsp, not even at the same sitting. I've had this with other sugar alcohols, but never, ever with any other brand of erythritol, even at high levels of consumption. I love erythritol , and I've had it in several different products: more brands of energy drink than I can remember, but a minimum of four different brands that I can think of; three different brands of keto ice creams, all made primarily with erythritol; as well as sw*** and the krog** brands of granulated erythritol. None of these products caused me so much as a fart, much less the level of digestive distress I'm experiencing today. I am in so much pain that I had the product refunded. There is no chance I will be able to use the rest of this, and I'm not the kind of monster who would even think of giving someone else a bag of spurious sugar alcohol. Not when there's the risk of the kind of pain I am in right now. This stuff is cheap; at a price that, even in bulk, seems too good to be true for erythritol. And that's because there is very clearly something amiss. Look at how many people are saying it causes them upset, and that they've never had this with other brands. The entire reason erythritol is so popular is because it is known to cause the least amount of people the least amount of stomach issues. There are people who can eat it, who can't eat ANY other sugar alcohols. Lots of people are complaining that it doesn't taste quite right, too. Now, I don't have a chem lab at home, so I can't tell you exactly what the problem is, but something is clearly very wrong with either the product or its manufacture. This is just a personal belief, but I think that this product is either contaminated with maltitol, or is just full-stop a bag of mislabeled maltitol. I've tried every sugar alcohol there is, and maltitol was THE ONLY ONE that ever made me feel like my stomach was trying to turn itself inside out. Yes, others have had a laxative effect or given me some gas, but not like THIS. Not like exactly what I'm experiencing right now, and have, again never. experienced. with any other brand. of erythritol.Bottom line? Don't buy this stuff just to save a few bucks. Chances are you'll have to spend the money you saved on a box of immodium and gas pills. It's not worth it!Update 1/28/21: I was in digestive pain for FOUR DAYS after eating this stuff, even with over the counter meds to help! Not even maltitol- the sugar alcohol that made the haribo sugar free gummi bears so infamous for turning people into poop rockets- has done that to me!PS- I am going to dig up a lab that can identify sugar alcohols and send them a sample of this product. I will update this review when that happens. I feel strongly enough that something bad is going on here, that it is worth investing a few bucks into testing to protect others.I used to use Xylitol but it is pricey and there were a few downsides to it - very toxic to dogs so if you bake, etc. with it you have to be careful around the pups. We all know little fido will not pass up an opportunity to steal a snack. Plus, in excessive amounts, Xylitol has been shown to contribute to tumors in mice. Just don't care to take the chance. I've not found any current material that suggests any risk using Erythritol, to date it is very safe aside from some mild digestive issues until you are used to it. ( Can cause some loose stool and gassiness till you adjust ). I prefer fine granules as I find it does take a bit to dissolve in cold beverages. If I make Ice Cream I usually will warm the mixture up on the stove top for a few minutes to dissolve the erythritol, cool and put the mixture in the ice cream maker. The other thing I do is to just throw a pound in the blender on the Flour mode and whiz it into powdered sugar ( I have a large Ninja multifunctional blender which I love. ) In powdered form it dissolves easily. I prefer the powdered for when making baked goods that I don't want any sugary crunch in, like butter cookies, etc. I especially love that Erythritol has no after taste - huge plus for me. I can pick out any amount of Stevia in any funky mix. I just hate it. Monkfruit is not economical enough for me either. Whole Earth has the best value for your money that I have found so far. I tried this brand because it was much less expensive than the Swerve. I had a problem with the Swerve not fully dissolving in my drinks--hot or cold--no matter how much stirring I did. This sweetener has a great flavor and aroma. I use it for baking and hot and cold drinks. It dissolves completely and has no aftertaste. My children don't notice the difference when I use it in iced tea. The texture is just like granulated sugar. Another huge plus is that it is non GMO project verified. This is the best sugar substitute I've had by far. After trying "Swerve" brand Erythritol Sweetener, I bought this Whole Earth brand Erythritol Sweetener thinking that it would have a similar taste. At the sale price I paid, it was a fraction of the cost or Swerve (since then, the price has gone up by about four bucks.)Apparently the two added ingredients in Swerve ("oligosaccharides" amp; "other flavors") make a difference because Whole Earth brand Erythritol is not nearly as sweet as Swerve.Compared to Swerve, I end up using twice as much Whole Earth - along with a little sugar - to get close to the same taste.2/13/2020 UPDATE: I've downgraded this to one star because after using more of this on a regular basis, I'm finding that this causes diarrhea (as some others have noted). It wasn't obvious at first. I did not have this problem at all with the Swerve brand. It also does not mix as well in beverages as the (much more expensive) Swerve.I definitely will not buy Whole Earth Sweetener Erythritol again. Not worth it, even for a much cheaper price.
